I'm excited to get on with this assignment as I have moved into a new dimension using Photoshop. My personal images are either pictures of Lyme Regis or portraits. Recently I have been working on my favourite images of Lyme to change them into what is known as either Photo Art or Digital Art. This is where you use the filter gallery of Photoshop (I'm now using the CS5 version) and introduce blocks of colour instead of the graduated flow to show the sky or areas of land.
My whole personal project will consist of different images of Lyme but not in a familiar way. I've always wished I could drawn and paint. I know we can all put paint to paper but I would have liked to create something original and recognisable whilst working but it was not to be. I'm hoping the images that I create in this fashion will be a way to get round my inability to paint directly onto paper.
I look at painted images, both old and contemporary work and wonder what it is that stirs the painter's imagination to create 'that' image, what is inside them that struggles to get out in the format they choose? And I wish I had it too!
I've started by picking out some of my favourite pictures of Lyme. As you can imagine, having lived in Lyme now for almost 3 years, I have quite a few depicting the seasons - not just the sunny, summer image that most people take, and there are definitely some that I prefer and which get good comments when I put them on view, so I think I'll start with them. As part of Part 5 of this module you are asked to create a website of your own work and you can see some of my personal favourites on the Weebly site: http://jenniferhollands.weebly.com
